Last week, domestic sugar prices experienced a slight decline.
On March 20th, the first-class white sugar spot price in Liuzhou, Guangxi was 5,470 yuan/ton, down 30 yuan/ton week-on-week, up 100 yuan/ton month-on-month, and down 770 yuan/ton year-on-year; in Kunming, Yunnan, it was 5,315 yuan/ton, down 20 yuan/ton week-on-week, up 145 yuan/ton month-on-month, and down 670 yuan/ton year-on-year. Domestic sugar production and imports have increased, while consumer demand remains generally stable, making short-term price increases unlikely. According to the General Administration of Customs, from January to February 2026, China imported 520,000 tons of sugar, a 5.6-fold increase year-on-year; by the end of February, the 2025/26 crushing season (October to September), China imported 2.28 million tons of sugar, a 48% increase year-on-year.
