Recently, some Android users reported receiving notifications that their images and videos were being unexpectedly deleted while using the Meituan app.

On March 24, Meituan’s official customer service responded to The Paper: “This issue mainly occurs when, in very rare cases, the app’s automatic cache clearing conflicts with third-party SDKs, causing anomalies. Since the problem was identified, over 180 users have contacted customer service, with an estimated potential affected user base of several hundred. We have promptly implemented an emergency fix after discovering the issue.”

Meituan customer service stated that this problem only occurred at the local phone system level and that the Meituan app does not read, store, or transfer any user personal data. User privacy and account information remain unaffected.

The reporter learned that after discovering the issue, Meituan quickly established a dedicated technical support team, working with professional security technology teams to assist affected users in recovering their data. Meituan customer service also stated that they have apologized to each affected user and will bear all costs and compensate for any losses.
