The Mystery of Sylwester Suszek – The Vanished Bitcoin King
The story of Sylwester Suszek remains an enigmatic case to this day, captivating and disturbing the cryptocurrency industry and the Polish public alike. Co-founder and former president of BitBay, Poland’s leading cryptocurrency exchange, he disappeared under mysterious circumstances in March 2022, leaving a family hopelessly searching for answers.
Who was Sylwester Suszek?
Sylwester Suszek was much more than just an entrepreneur—he was considered a pioneer in the Polish cryptocurrency scene. At only 34 years old, he founded and built BitBay, one of Poland’s most significant digital asset trading platforms. His expertise and dedication made him a legend, earning him the nickname “King of Bitcoins.” But on March 10, 2022, his life took a tragic turn.
The mysterious circumstances of his disappearance
On that March day, Sylwester Suszek was last seen at a fuel depot after leaving a business meeting. From that moment on, all traces of him vanished. Police launched extensive search operations, but a strange detail raised questions: the security cameras at the depot were offline exactly on the day he disappeared. This created an informational blackout during the critical hours following his disappearance.
Family investigations
Sylwester’s sister, Nicole Suszek, refused to accept the official search as concluded. She conducted her own investigations and made disturbing discoveries. Four days after his disappearance, she managed to locate her brother’s phone—it was logged into a network and moving along a highway. This discovery pointed to something far more alarming than an accident: it suggested a possible kidnapping.
Extortion attempts and disturbing messages
Even more alarming were the messages Nicole received. An audio recording arrived that resembled her brother’s voice—though with electronic distortion. In the recording, someone claiming to be Sylwester begged for help: Bitcoins worth about 12 million PLN at the time were demanded to be transferred to a specified email address. The accompanying SMS was unambiguous: “This is no joke, in a week there will be a photo of the body.”
Nicole didn’t hesitate—she did not transfer the money. Instead, she received further disturbing recordings with threats of mutilation and urgent pleas to “bring Sylwester home for Easter.” These messages painted a picture of a staged kidnapping and possible extortion.
A case without answers
Despite all these clues and the relentless efforts of Nicole Suszek and the authorities, Sylwester Suszek’s disappearance remains unsolved. Nicole is firmly convinced that her brother was kidnapped and murdered, although his body has not been found to this day. She continues to face threats and is fighting not only for the truth but also for her own safety. The investigations remain open, and the questions surrounding Sylwester Suszek and his mysterious fate have yet to be answered.
