Shanghai Port's energy storage cabinet exports open a new channel as the first batch of energy storage cabinets is successfully loaded onto ships at Nangang Terminal.

At 8:00 a.m. on March 22, a domestically produced energy storage cabinet covered with a blue protective oilcloth was smoothly lifted onto the Liberian-flagged “Krashevsky” vessel, marking the official start of the energy storage cabinet export operations at Shanghai Nangang Terminal.

A total of 46 energy storage cabinets were exported, each with a volume equivalent to a standard container and a weight of 43 tons. These cabinets will be shipped along with 717 other pieces of equipment and materials, including substation heat exchangers, wind turbines, and wind turbine blades, to the European market.

In recent years, the “new three” foreign trade sectors—new energy vehicles, lithium batteries, and solar cells—have become important growth engines for China’s foreign trade exports. As a core hub of China’s new energy industry, the Yangtze River Delta region has added a new export channel for energy storage cabinets.

It is worth noting that energy storage cabinets are classified as Category 9 dangerous goods under the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code, requiring high safety management standards throughout transportation and export processes. This operation not only marks the first time that energy storage cabinets are loaded onto ships at Nangang Terminal but also involves large, diverse cargo with varying specifications, high operational complexity, and long port stay durations, making the safety assurance more challenging.
