# Wisdom in Dealing with Difficult People

Lao Gao transported a truckload of materials. It wasn't overloaded, but at the inspection station, he was told it was seriously overloaded by more than 20%. No matter how Lao Gao argued, it didn't help. Not only was his truck confiscated, but he was also issued a citation and fined 2000 yuan. When he was notified to pick up his truck after paying the fine, Lao Gao brought notary personnel and lawyers, then had the truck tested at a fair location. Afterward, Lao Gao said that half of the materials on the truck were missing. Since the citation stated it was overloaded by 20%, he now wanted to recover that portion of cargo. Therefore, Lao Gao filed a lawsuit against the inspection station. In the end, the inspection station staff admitted they had lost Lao Gao's cargo and compensated him with hundreds of thousands of yuan. Lao Gao happily drove away with his truck.

On the drive home, a large bag of boiled peanuts was placed on the front passenger seat. During the trip, Lao Gao got out to buy water at a supermarket without locking the car door. When he returned, he found the peanuts were stolen. The dash cam captured several older women with children taking them away. Lao Gao called the police. The officer said: "It's only worth a few dollars, we won't file a case." Lao Gao said: "The peanuts are expired and soaked in rat poison—I was planning to take them back to the countryside to kill rats." Upon hearing this, the police immediately dispatched and checked the surveillance footage. In less than half an hour, they found them. The older women were so frightened their legs went weak.

The most powerful thing in this world is not money or power, but a way of thinking. As the saying goes: "Fall short by an inch, and you lose ground everywhere; exceed by a measure, and you control the entire world."
