JD.com and DHL Group Sign MOU to Support German Brands in Deepening Their Presence in the China-Europe Market
On February 26, JD.com Group and DHL Group announced the signing of an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding), under which both parties will collaborate deeply on innovative logistics and e-commerce services to create seamless, integrated solutions that efficiently connect brands, merchants, and consumers between China and Europe. Leveraging DHL’s global logistics network and JD’s mature e-commerce ecosystem, this partnership will open new pathways for the international development of German brands, help solidify DHL’s position as Europe’s preferred logistics partner for brands, and strengthen JD’s role as a trusted global e-commerce gateway.
According to the MOU, DHL will recommend high-quality German brands to JD, helping them efficiently expand into the Chinese market. German brands can sell directly to over 700 million Chinese consumers on JD Global Shopping without establishing physical entities or legal entities in China.
With the strong alliance between DHL and JD Logistics, German brands will gain a one-stop, full-chain solution for market entry into China. DHL and JD Logistics will jointly develop and provide end-to-end comprehensive solutions to optimize the entire fulfillment experience from Europe to China.
At the same time, JD Global Shopping will offer brands full-spectrum e-commerce operational support, including store management, product selection, consumer insights, and marketing tools. Combining DHL’s extensive international logistics experience, both parties will build a highly competitive ecosystem for brands entering China.
DHL Group CEO Timo Rissanen stated, “This collaboration will create an efficient and reliable integrated solution to help DHL’s clients in Germany and Europe successfully access the vast Chinese market. We are integrating four core advantages: DHL’s global logistics network, JD’s large user base, favorable policies for cross-border B2C direct shipping, and JD’s strong fulfillment and delivery capabilities in China. The deep integration of logistics expertise and e-commerce capabilities will provide robust support for the internationalization of German brands, helping merchants reach consumers in the most optimal way through scalable pathways and innovative tools.”
JD Group SEC Vice Chairman and CEO Xu Ran said, “Many German companies have high-quality products and compelling brand stories. To achieve sustained growth in China, they need suitable channels and operational infrastructure to connect directly with Chinese consumers at scale. Through our partnership with DHL, we will integrate logistics capabilities, digital infrastructure, and market channel resources to help brands better understand Chinese consumer needs, optimize product positioning, and improve market entry efficiency, allowing brands to focus on long-term growth and brand building.”
As a key part of the partnership, JD will also leverage its European online retail platform Joybuy to help German brands reach a broader European consumer base. With JD’s rich e-commerce operational experience, Joybuy will provide professional retail infrastructure and market channel support to help German companies expand sales channels and reach European consumers more efficiently. This collaboration will further reinforce DHL’s role as a leading enabler of e-commerce growth in Europe and continue supporting German brands in expanding into new markets.
As a supply chain-based technology and service enterprise, JD’s business spans retail, technology, logistics, healthcare, industrial, manufacturing, and international sectors. It ranks 44th on the Fortune Global 500, making it China’s largest retail company by revenue. JD upholds values of customer-first, innovation, perseverance, responsibility, gratitude, and integrity. Its mission is “using technology to make life better,” and it adheres to the principles of cost, efficiency, product, price, and service. Its vision is to become the most trusted enterprise worldwide.
