China's Series of Hybrid Rice Achieves Single-Yield Exceeding Parental Hybrid Rice Level

People’s Financial News, March 22 — On the 22nd, reporters learned from the Yazhou Bay National Laboratory that the laboratory, in collaboration with the China Rice Research Institute and other organizations, successfully developed a new type of synthetic apomictic hybrid rice (a hybrid rice using the one-line method). In standardized field trials across multiple locations, it demonstrated excellent genetic stability and high yield potential, with a single plant yield reaching or even surpassing that of its parent hybrid rice. This achievement provides a new approach to solving the global problems of hybrid rice seed production difficulties and high costs. The related research results have recently been published in the international academic journal Molecular Plant. (Xinhua News Agency)
