Beijing Time, March 21st, Morning News: According to reports, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that after consultations between the two countries’ officials, Iran is ready to allow ships related to Japan to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

The report said that Araghchi made the above statement in an interview with the Japanese news agency on Friday. Japan’s oil imports are highly dependent on the Middle East, and the Iran conflict has prompted the country to release strategic oil reserves this month.

Japan has been under pressure from U.S. President Trump to help ensure the security of the Strait of Hormuz. Earlier this week, Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi held a face-to-face meeting with Trump in Washington, explaining Japan’s legal limitations on participating in such actions. At the same time, she also emphasized areas of mutual consensus, including a commitment to increase oil imports from the U.S. and cooperation in missile development.

On Saturday morning, the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not answer calls during non-working hours.
