India and Iran Hold Emergency Talks: Experts Warn Middle East Conflict Could Slow India’s Economic Growth

On March 14, Caixin reported that due to ongoing Middle East conflicts, about 20 oil tankers remain stranded near the Strait of Hormuz. Sources revealed that India is currently engaged in a new round of emergency negotiations with Iran to ensure the safe passage of the ships. Experts warn that if military conflicts persist, disruptions in energy supplies could slow India’s economic growth. India is the world’s second-largest importer of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), with two-thirds of its LPG imports relying on foreign sources, 85% to 90% of which come from the Middle East. Additionally, India is the fourth-largest buyer of liquefied natural gas (LNG), with about half of its imports sourced from the Middle East. (CCTV Finance)
