China News Service Beijing, March 22 — (Reporter Yin Qianyun, Chi Hanyu, Liu Liang) Apple CEO Tim Cook said in an interview with China News Service and other media in Beijing that the development of China’s robotics industry is impressive. When discussing the opportunities during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, he expressed great anticipation for artificial intelligence (AI) and is eager to see the next advancements in the field.

The 2026 Annual Conference of the China Development Forum opened in Beijing on the same day. In his opening speech, Cook stated that China’s talented developer community is challenging the limits of innovation every day. They use technology to build tools that help people learn skills, manage health, and inspire new ideas, becoming a powerful growth engine and a model of new productive forces, bringing prosperity and opportunities to the entire country.

He pointed out that the same innovative spirit is also profoundly transforming China’s manufacturing industry: companies that once relied on manual processes have now become some of the most advanced manufacturers globally, making remarkable progress in automation and intelligent manufacturing, reaching new heights in efficiency and standards.

Cook also mentioned that Chinese supplier partners have demonstrated extraordinary innovation in reducing environmental carbon footprints. Today, over 90% of Apple’s products in China are powered by clean energy, and more than 90 suppliers have committed to achieving 100% renewable electricity for Apple product manufacturing by 2030.
