3M and Bain Capital have announced a definitive agreement to acquire Madison Fire & Rescue, a rescue and fire system subsidiary, for $1.95 billion. This acquisition will form a joint venture where 3M will own 50.1% and Bain Capital 49.9%, with 3M also transferring its Scott Safety brand breathing apparatus products to the new company. The move aligns with 3M’s strategy to broaden its safety portfolio, enhance margins, and invest in innovation, furthering its long-standing presence in the fire and safety business.
