Beijing Business Daily (Reporter Wang Manlei) reported that on March 20, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s official website announced that on March 19, a symposium was held in Beijing to discuss the mandatory national standards “Safety Requirements for Photovoltaic Modules” and “Nameplate Marking Requirements for Photovoltaic Modules.” The meeting focused on promoting the development and implementation of these two standards. Vice Minister of Industry and Information Technology Xiong Jijun attended the meeting and delivered a speech.

The meeting pointed out that China’s photovoltaic industry is already a global leader in terms of industry scale, technological level, and market application. Currently, the photovoltaic industry has entered a new stage of high-quality development, with faster technological iteration and expanding application scenarios, which require higher standards for product quality control and standard system construction. It is necessary to thoroughly implement the decisions and deployments of the Party Central Committee and the State Council, and to recognize that formulating and implementing the “Safety Requirements for Photovoltaic Modules” and other mandatory standards are not only important measures to coordinate development and safety and to eliminate disorderly competition in the industry but also essential for strengthening the safety net for people’s livelihoods and promoting high-quality industry development.

The meeting emphasized that photovoltaic manufacturing enterprises should strengthen standard guidance and safety supervision; power generation state-owned enterprises should proactively optimize bidding and procurement mechanisms, align with standard requirements early in the procurement process, and pay greater attention to safety issues. All parties should work together, adhere to innovation-led development, promote the transformation of the photovoltaic industry from “scale leading” to “value leading,” and jointly build a safe and reliable competitive environment to solidify the national energy security barrier through concrete actions.

Responsible officials from the Department of Electronic Information, the Science and Technology Department, and the China Electronic Standardization Institute of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, as well as leaders from photovoltaic-related enterprises and industry associations, attended the meeting.
