It is worth noting that on March 14, 2025, the Supreme People’s Court issued judicial interpretations regarding civil disputes over pre-paid consumption, clarifying several rules that benefit consumers:

“Unfair terms” are invalid. Terms such as non-refundable payments, losing cards without replacement, and restrictions on transferring cards should be legally deemed invalid.

Seven-day unconditional refunds. Consumers who have not used the service within seven days of payment have the right to request a refund of the prepayment principal.

Merchant breach of contract allows termination. If a merchant relocates without consent, consumers have the right to terminate the contract.
