State Administration for Market Regulation Issues "Supervision and Management Regulations on Online Food Delivery Service Operators' Implementation of Food Safety Principal Responsibility"
Today, at a press conference held by the State Administration for Market Regulation, it was announced that the “Regulations on Supervision and Management of Food Safety Responsibilities for Online Catering Service Operators” will officially take effect on June 1. The regulations specify the management responsibilities of delivery platforms across the entire chain, including merchant qualification review, information disclosure, process control, and issue resolution. They require delivery platforms to be responsible upon registration, regulated upon launch, and accountable upon operation, ensuring that food safety responsibilities are embedded in every aspect of platform operation, every process, and every decision. The regulations also warn delivery platforms that they cannot just collect commissions without taking responsibility; they cannot focus solely on traffic without regard for quality. Delivery platforms must genuinely assume the primary responsibility as “gatekeepers” of food safety in online catering. (CCTV News)
