Iran: Hits a U.S. Stealth Fighter Capable of Countering the Most Advanced Equipment

Source: Reference News

On the 19th, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran announced that they had hit a U.S. F-35 stealth fighter jet, causing serious damage. Iranian media reported that this demonstrates Iran’s air defense not only remains intact but also still has the capability to counter the world’s most advanced military equipment.

According to the Iranian Students’ News Agency, around 2:50 a.m. that day, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ new advanced air defense system shot down the U.S. F-35 fighter jet in Iranian airspace. Earlier, CNN reported that a U.S. F-35 was suspected to have been hit by Iranian fire and made an emergency landing at a U.S. military base in the Middle East.

U.S. Central Command spokesperson Tim Hawkins stated that the stealth fighter was forced to make an emergency landing while “conducting a mission over Iran,” and it landed safely. The pilot’s condition is stable, and the incident is under investigation.

Mehr News Agency of Iran reported that if Iran’s air defense truly was “destroyed” as claimed by U.S. President Trump, how could one of the world’s most advanced and expensive fighters, the F-35, be attacked and forced to retreat during a mission? This is not a simple military incident; it is actually a demonstration of Iran’s deterrence capability.

The report pointed out that Iran has the ability to significantly increase the costs of any “military adventure.”
