According to industry insiders on Tuesday, despite strong market demand, Samsung Electronics has stopped selling its high-end foldable smartphone Galaxy Z TriFold in South Korea due to high production costs. This is Samsung’s first triple-folding screen phone.

The triple-folding smartphone was released last December. It features a dual hinge design and, when fully unfolded, has a 10-inch display. It sold out on the first day of release.

The phone is priced at 3.59 million won (about $2,400) in South Korea. Although limited in shipment, Samsung Electronics has made more than ten restocks in the Korean market.

Industry insiders say the reason for halting sales is the high production costs, compounded by recent global increases in memory chip prices.

Others believe that the release of the Galaxy Z TriFold was intended to showcase Samsung Electronics’ technological competitiveness rather than for mass production.

Sales will continue in countries, including the United States, where stock remains.
