The 2026 Zhongguancun Forum Annual Conference Will Highlight High-Level Scientific and Technological Open Cooperation
China News Service Beijing, March 18 (Reporter Chen Hang) — Vice Minister of Science and Technology Lin Xin announced at a State Council Information Office press conference that, with approval from the State Council, the 2026 Zhongguancun Forum Annual Conference will be held in Beijing from March 25 to 29. The event will feature five main sections: forum meetings, achievement releases, technology transactions, frontier competitions, and supporting activities, with over 100 events planned. It is expected that more than a thousand guests from over 100 countries and regions will participate.
Lin Xin stated that since its founding in 2007, the Zhongguancun Forum has maintained the theme of “Innovation and Development,” adhering to the principles of openness, innovation, and win-win cooperation. It has attracted increasing attention and participation from domestic and international guests and audiences, playing a positive role in promoting technological exchange and collaboration.
Lin Xin said that the 2026 Zhongguancun Forum Annual Conference is jointly hosted by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the China Association for Science and Technology, and the Beijing Municipal Government. The theme for the year is “Deep Integration of Scientific and Industrial Innovation.” The event will include five main sections: forum meetings, achievement releases, technology transactions, frontier competitions, and supporting activities, with over 100 events expected to involve more than a thousand guests from over 100 countries and regions.
Lin Xin highlighted four features of this year’s forum. First, it emphasizes expanding the construction of an international science and innovation center. Focused on building the Beijing (Jing-Jin-Ji) international science and innovation center, the event will include the Jing-Jin-Ji Collaborative Innovation and High-Quality Development Forum and the Jing-Jin-Ji Technology Transaction Results Matchmaking Conference, releasing policies to deepen cooperation among the three regions, jointly promoting innovation collaboration and industrial cooperation, and advancing the “six key industrial chains and five industrial clusters” in depth.
Second, it emphasizes the deep integration of scientific and industrial innovation. Several thematic forums will be held around cutting-edge fields such as 6G, brain-computer interfaces, and cell and gene therapy, to explore technological innovation and industrial applications in these areas. Frontier technology competitions and technology transaction conferences will also be organized to facilitate the transformation of scientific achievements.
Third, it promotes the integrated development of education, science, technology, and talent. Renowned universities, research institutes, and leading enterprises from home and abroad will be deeply involved, gathering outstanding engineers and young scientific talents to discuss talent cultivation models driven by technological development and strategic needs, inspiring innovation and vitality among talent pools.
Fourth, it highlights high-level scientific and technological openness and cooperation. The event will implement bilateral and multilateral international cooperation frameworks, host multiple themed forums, and promote the “International Open Science Cooperation Action Plan” to advance open scientific research.
