Tencent's 2025 game revenue increased by 22% year-over-year, driven by evergreen titles, overseas expansion, and AI-driven gaming business growth.
How does AI · Tencent Games AI NPC achieve high engagement?
On March 18, Tencent Holdings (00700.HK) released its Q4 and full-year 2025 financial reports. As a core business, gaming remains steady in growth, with total gaming revenue reaching 241.6 billion RMB, a 22% increase year-over-year. Domestic market gaming revenue grew by 18% year-over-year to 164.2 billion RMB. International market gaming revenue surpassed $10 billion for the first time, a 33% increase, setting a new record.
Specifically, in Q4, domestic gaming revenue increased by 15% year-over-year to 38.2 billion RMB, mainly driven by revenue growth from “Delta Force” and “Valorant” (PC and mobile versions), as well as incremental revenue from “Mingchao.” International gaming revenue grew by 32% year-over-year to 21.1 billion RMB, primarily from increased revenue from Supercell’s games and “PUBG Mobile,” along with overseas incremental revenue from “Mingchao.”
The financial report also highlights that gaming AI is effectively accelerating content creation, improving user experience, and enhancing marketing efficiency. Currently, several games such as “Honor of Kings,” “Peacekeeper Elite,” and “Delta Force” have integrated AI to enrich player experience and improve game quality.
Among them, “Peacekeeper Elite” has announced that the total number of users experiencing AI NPC gameplay has reached 110 million, with a peak daily active user count of 17.7 million. The average message interaction per game session is 70 rounds, microphone activation rate is nearly 75%, further boosting player engagement.
AI competition has entered the “second half” of application development. In gaming scenarios, AI applications are shifting from experimental exploration to systematic development pipelines. At the recent global game developers conference, Tencent showcased 21 sessions related to gaming AI applications, covering the entire industry chain from game development, gameplay, to operations, leading the global exploration of gaming AI applications. With its interactive features, real-time feedback mechanisms, and digital content iteration needs, gaming is becoming one of the most promising scenarios for AI implementation.
