The war between the United States and Israel against Iran has entered its third week, and the situation in the Middle East remains tense. According to Reuters on Friday, three U.S. government officials said that Washington is sending thousands of Marines and sailors to the Middle East.

One official stated that the amphibious assault ship USS Boxer, carrying a Marine expeditionary unit, departed from the U.S. West Coast about three weeks earlier than planned, but did not disclose the specific mission of the troop deployment.

President Trump on Thursday said he would not send troops anywhere, but if he did, he would not inform the media.

This deployment will bring the number of U.S. troops stationed in the Middle East to 50,000, with two Marine expeditionary units deployed to the region. The first Marine expeditionary unit has already been dispatched from Indo-Pacific Command and is expected to arrive in the Middle East next week.
