International Energy Agency Issues Stern Warning: Gulf Region Oil and Gas Supply Recovery Could Take Six Months
According to CoinWorld, the International Energy Agency (IEA) issued a stern warning on Friday: ongoing conflicts involving Iran could trigger the largest supply disruption in the history of the global oil market, and normal flow of oil and natural gas in the Gulf region may take up to six months to restore. IEA Director Fatih Birol stated that policymakers and markets have underestimated the severity of this crisis, which could drive up energy prices and strain global supply chains. The IEA emphasized that relying solely on supply-side measures is insufficient to stabilize the market. In a detailed set of recommendations, the agency listed a series of demand-side actions that can be implemented immediately to ease consumer pressure and ensure energy security. Given the risk that the supply disruption could persist long-term, the agency’s advice highlights the importance of taking collective action now—combining energy efficiency improvements, behavioral changes, and industrial adjustments—to address what it calls the “largest supply disruption in the history of the oil market.”
