Walmart Inc. has agreed to pay $100 million to settle allegations from the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) concerning deceptive practices regarding its Spark delivery program. The FTC, along with 10 states, alleged that Walmart misled gig drivers about their pay and tips, falsely claiming all customer tips would go directly to drivers and failing to disclose tip splitting when deliveries were handled by multiple drivers. As part of the settlement, Walmart must implement an earnings verification program to ensure transparency and proper payment for its drivers.
