The XRP Ledger Foundation fixed a critical vulnerability a few days before the proposed batch update plan was about to go live on the mainnet. The vulnerability was discovered by a security engineer and an AI tool, and could have allowed attackers to bypass authorization checks and execute unauthorized transactions from victim accounts. Urgent validator voting and the rapid release of Rippled v3.1.1 prevented the implementation of the update plan, thereby protecting the funds of all users.
