Vitalik outlines the Ethereum scalability roadmap in a post, divided into short-term and long-term phases. In the short term, the Glamsterdam upgrade will introduce block-level access lists, ePBS, and gas re-pricing, as well as advance multi-dimensional gas mechanisms, first separating the "state creation" cost from regular execution gas to increase execution capacity while controlling state growth. In the long term, the roadmap includes promoting PeerDAS to improve blob data throughput, and gradually increasing reliance on ZK-EVM, such as a small number of validators using it in 2026, expanding its share and raising the gas cap in 2027, ultimately transitioning to a mandatory multi-proof mechanism that relies on ZK proofs for validation and supports higher scalability.
