NTT DOCOMO is expanding its Open RAN (Radio Access Network) initiatives by cooperating with five global telecom operators: KT Corporation, Vodafone Group, Smart Communications Inc., DISH Wireless, and Singtel. This collaboration aims to promote the Open RAN concept, which uses open and standardized wireless base-station specifications to enable multi-vendor interconnection in mobile networks. DOCOMO has also launched the “OREX” brand to support international operators in deploying Open RAN systems, leveraging its expertise in constructing multi-vendor networks since the 4G era.
