According to Israeli media reports on the evening of the 5th, some Arab and Islamic countries are lobbying the United States and Iran to sign a non-aggression agreement during the negotiations on the 6th. The Israel Times, citing two Middle Eastern diplomats as sources, reported that Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, and Pakistan will participate in the US-Iran talks held in Muscat, Oman. These countries drafted a framework agreement for the US and Iran, including mutual commitments not to target each other for attack. The report said that this non-aggression agreement also covers the US and Iran’s respective allies and “proxy” forces in the Middle East. However, it will be difficult to get Israel to agree to abide by such an agreement. According to the Islamic Republic News Agency of Iran, Iranian Foreign Minister Amir Abdollahian arrived in Muscat with his delegation on the evening of the 5th. The White House confirmed on the same day that US President Trump’s special envoy, Witkov, and his son-in-law Kushner, would participate in the talks on the 6th. The Israel Times reported that Witkov and Kushner met with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed in Doha on the 5th. In 2025, under Omani mediation, Iran and the US held multiple rounds of indirect negotiations, but core disagreements remained unresolved. The US demanded Iran completely abandon uranium enrichment, while Iran emphasized its right to peaceful nuclear energy. In June of the same year, Israel launched a raid on Iran, triggering a “12-day war,” during which the US bombed Iranian nuclear facilities. Since then, US-Iran negotiations have been suspended.
