The company was formed in 2007 by some members of the senior management team and certain private equity funds, and is a Delaware limited liability company. Chord Energy is an independent exploration and production company focused on acquiring and developing unconventional oil and natural gas resources in the Williston Basin of Montana and North Dakota. The company is currently developing significant resource potential in the Bakken and Three Forks formations, which cover most of its land holdings. The company believes that the location, scale, and concentration of its core project areas provide opportunities to achieve cost, recovery, and production efficiencies through large-scale development of its project inventory.
