On February 26, NIO (NIO.US) announced that its chip subsidiary, Anhui Shenji Technology Co., Ltd., completed its first round of equity financing, raising over 2.2 billion RMB with a post-investment valuation of nearly 10 billion RMB. This round of funding attracted multiple industry-leading investors, including Hefei Guotou, Hefei Haiheng, IDG Capital, SMIC Juyuan, and Yuanhe Puhua. The financing will support Shenji’s ongoing research and development and promotion of high-end, highly competitive chip products, underpinning NIO’s long-term plans in autonomous driving and embodied intelligence.
Anhui Shenji is the first domestic company to develop 5nm automotive-grade chips and the first to achieve large-scale commercial use. The “Shenji NX9031” chip’s performance, capable of replacing four chips, has consistently ranked first among domestic automotive chips. Since its production began in 2024, over 150,000 units have been shipped, successfully deployed across NIO’s entire vehicle lineup. Following this funding round, Shenji plans to launch ultra-high-performance chips for the next generation of intelligent driving and several other chips for different fields. The company’s initial orders mainly come from NIO, and it is actively expanding into emerging areas such as embodied robotics and agent reasoning, providing comprehensive chip and smart hardware solutions for various clients in the era of AGI.
