The National Health Commission held a press conference today to introduce information about public service projects. Jiao Yahui, Director of the Department of Primary Healthcare at the National Health Commission, stated that as China’s aging process gradually accelerates, the demand for services such as blood dialysis is increasing. By 2025, the National Health Commission plans to ensure that all counties with a permanent population of over 100,000 can provide blood dialysis services. Currently, more than 8,400 medical institutions across the country offer blood dialysis services, mainly second- and third-tier hospitals, most of which are located in cities and counties. Blood dialysis patients typically undergo treatment 2 to 3 times a week. Access to services near their homes would greatly improve convenience and reduce non-medical expenses such as transportation and accommodation. In recent years, some regions have promoted capable township health centers and community health service centers to provide blood dialysis services. Currently, over 700 grassroots medical and health institutions nationwide offer blood dialysis, which is well received by nearby patients. (CCTV News)
