Slovakia Consumer Mood Edges Up in February

Slovakia’s consumer confidence indicator rose to -25 in February 2026 from -26.7 in the previous month, though it remained 5.1 points below its long-term average. Sentiment improved as households took a less pessimistic view of the general economic outlook (-38.2 vs -42.6 in January) and their savings position (-16.2 vs -20.8). In contrast, expectations for their financial situation deteriorated further (-12.3 vs -11.7), while concerns about unemployment increased (33.3 vs 31.5). Among other indicators, consumers were also less negative about major purchases (-19.2 vs -19.7), though sentiment remained unfavorable, while inflation expectations ticked up (30.7 vs 30.6).
