Eight Departments: By 2030, a preliminary development system for the coordinated development of the entire traditional Chinese medicine industry chain will be established
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and seven other departments issued the “Implementation Plan for High-Quality Development of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Industry (2026–2030).” The plan proposes that by 2030, a preliminary development system for the entire industrial chain of traditional Chinese medicine will be formed, with the continuous and stable supply capacity of key medicinal raw materials further enhanced, digitalization and greenization levels significantly improved, a number of key technologies achieved breakthroughs, and industry collaborative innovation levels markedly increased. The quality of development will be significantly improved, the scale and efficiency of the traditional Chinese medicine industry will steadily rise, the degree of industrial consolidation will be notably enhanced, and quality management levels will be significantly elevated. A group of leading enterprises with strong driving capabilities in the traditional Chinese medicine industry will be cultivated, along with 60 high-standard medicinal raw material production bases. The collaborative system will be more sound, with closer coordination across upstream and downstream links such as cultivation, processing, research, production, circulation, and services of traditional Chinese medicine. Five traditional Chinese medicine industrial innovation centers will be established. Innovative products will continue to emerge, promoting the approval and listing of a batch of innovative Chinese medicine drugs, cultivating 10 new large varieties of proprietary Chinese medicines, and transforming a number of traditional Chinese medicine formulations in medical institutions into innovative Chinese medicine drugs.
