Decentralized storage finally has a "killer" solution. Sui's native protocol Walrus has recently become a favorite among many enterprises — it uses a set of technological innovations to completely change storage economics.

Let's first look at the costs. Walrus adopts Red Stuff's 2D erasure coding technology, reducing storage costs to $50/TB/year. What does this mean? It is 98.6% cheaper than Arweave and 75% cheaper than Filecoin. Even more astonishing, this price is approaching the level of centralized cloud services like AWS — a first in the industry.

But hardware technology alone isn't enough; the real game-changer is at the application layer. Walrus has opened a new door through a partnership with Crossmint: over 40,000 enterprises worldwide (including financial giants like Mastercard and Santander) can store data on a decentralized network without understanding blockchain development — just by simple API calls. This "zero learning curve" integration method directly transforms Web3 storage from a geek tool into an enterprise tool.

Interesting practices are already emerging in the ecosystem. After Decrypt, a Web3 media outlet, migrated its 4K video library to Walrus, it used smart contracts to handle copyright revenue sharing, increasing efficiency by a full 30 times. CCP Games developed an MMO on the Sui chain, using Walrus to solve the storage challenges of large game assets. Korea's T'Order even uses it for landing payments with the Korean won stablecoin.

From an architecture perspective, the native token WAL plays roles in storage payments, staking guarantees, and governance voting — these are real needs, not just empty talk. Coupled with $140 million in institutional funding, Mysten Labs' technical backing, and considering that data security and regulatory compliance are increasingly critical for enterprises, the growth potential of the Walrus track is likely beyond your imagination.

Wow, $50 per T, this price is really outrageous. Arweave is still sleeping over there.

$50 per T, really can't compete with AWS, it depends on how the actual usage turns out later.

$50 per TB, this number is indeed impressive, but I want to see the real adoption data after half a year. I'm skeptical about compliance; do enterprises really trust on-chain storage? Simple APIs don't necessarily mean it can be used on a large scale; what about the approval processes of financial giants? Filecoin also hyped up like this back then, and now... Can Sui's endorsement turn things around this time? It feels a bit too good to be true.

$50 per TB? Wow, that's way cheaper than I expected. I really feel like I need to go all out this time.

The price of $50 per T... is somewhat impressive, but the question is whether it will be another fleeting "killer app" that fades away? I've seen this kind of Walrus approach before—API calls with zero barriers, companies all rushing to use it... It's called empowerment in a nice way, but it really depends on the actual data volume. What can the 4K video library from Decrypt tell us? Whether WAL can sustain this ecosystem is the key; just having funding isn't enough. I'm worried it might end up being just another Arweave story... Will it really hold up this time? Not very optimistic, but it's worth paying attention.

$50 per TB? Damn, Arweave might want to consider lowering the price.

$50 per TB per year, directly cutting Arweave by 98%... This data needs to be verified again, it feels too exaggerated. It really counts if you bring in financial giants like Mastercard; for now, it's still an early story. Walrus indeed bet on the right application layer, but don't forget that Filecoin also hyped up like this back then. The WAL token design looks okay, but I'm worried it might become just a fundraising tool again.

$50 for a TByte? Really? Can this price beat centralized services? Wait, Mastercard is also entering the scene. Things are getting really serious now. How does Filecoin see this? Is it being squeezed out? The real power lies in that API call. With just one sentence, enterprises can access decentralized storage. That’s the breakthrough, right? CCP Games uses it to store game assets? That requires a lot of storage. The cost savings are real. WAL this token has some substance; it’s not just a pure fundraising concept.
