MetaMask users beware of new 2FA scam: Mnemonic phrase theft trap revealed

Abstract generation in progress

【Blockchain Rhythm】 Recently, MetaMask users need to be extra cautious as a new scam tactic targeting wallets has emerged. The scammers’ method is actually not complicated: they first create a fake security alert page that looks exactly like the official one, then lure you into completing a so-called two-factor authentication. At this point, a fake 2FA verification interface will pop up, accompanied by an emergency countdown, creating a tense atmosphere of “if you don’t quickly operate your wallet, there will be problems.” Once you’re scared into action, the final step comes—entering your wallet seed phrase. This step is the scammers’ real goal. Once the seed phrase is leaked, the assets in your wallet are fully exposed with no room for remedy. Therefore, when you see such verification prompts, stay calm; official wallets usually do not ask you to enter your seed phrase through a webpage.

Mnemonic phrases are really not something to enter carelessly. Once you've been scammed, you understand how terrifying it can be.

Mnemonic phrases, really, don't be careless. Once entered, they're gone. Friends without an undo button.

Another wave of phishing scams, truly impressive... The countdown tactic is indeed brilliant, it preys on people's confusion when they're scared.

Never input things like mnemonic phrases. I've seen people get scammed before. The countdown method is the easiest to fall for. Stay calm, and there's no problem at all.

Never enter your mnemonic phrase casually. A friend of mine was scammed like that... That countdown is really intense; it's just used to scare you. The official team would never pressure you like that.
