Browser extension wallets have experienced a large-scale security incident. According to the latest investigation, this incident only affected users who logged into specific versions of the browser extension between December 24 and 26. It has been confirmed that 2,520 wallet addresses were affected, and attackers successfully stole assets from these addresses.
The scale of the stolen funds is quite astonishing—approximately $8.5 million in total. Even more concerning is that these stolen funds have been traced to 17 wallet addresses controlled by the attackers. The investigation team is further analyzing the specific causes of this incident and the hackers' operational methods.
This incident has served as a wake-up call for many. While browser extensions are convenient to use, vulnerabilities can pose real risks. For users holding digital assets, regular updates, cautious authorization, and diversified storage of funds are essential protective measures. Currently, relevant parties are intensifying efforts to track the flow of stolen funds to see if some assets can be recovered later.
