BNB Chain 2026 Technology Roadmap Revealed: Sub-Second Finality and Surpassing 20,000 TPS
【Blockchain Rhythm】BNB Chain recently released its technology development plan for 2026, with a clear strategy — to continue implementing the dual-client solution. One client based on Geth is responsible for stability, serving as a reliable backbone for validators’ compatibility and operations; the other client based on Reth is tasked with high performance, driving full nodes, archive nodes, and future validator participation.
In the short term, by next year, they aim to achieve several key metrics: running at 20,000 TPS under sub-second finality conditions, and further reducing gas costs through software optimizations. They are also making moves in consensus algorithms and network latency, aiming to push finality into a deeper sub-second level.
Looking further ahead to the 2026-2028 cycle, BNB Chain aspires to become the true next-generation transaction chain. The ambition is significant — targeting nearly 1 million TPS throughput, which requires maintaining about 20 GGas per second of execution capacity. Transaction confirmation aims for near-instant finality, ideally within 150 milliseconds. The technical architecture will adopt execution proofs combined with off-chain and on-chain hybrid computing, ensuring both performance and security. At the same time, they are strengthening decentralization by improving validator models and fault-tolerance mechanisms to enhance the network’s resilience. The ultimate goal is to achieve top-tier performance along with top-tier security and reliability.
