Merchants participate because Bitcoin’s Lightning Network transaction fees are usually below 1%, compared to an average of about 3% for credit card networks. Additionally, residents can use standard QR code bills to pay municipal bills, including taxes, parking fines, and tuition fees, using Bitcoin or USDT.
