Stacks network has completed the SIP-034 upgrade, increasing the effective capacity of some DeFi applications by up to 30 times. This upgrade was activated through a governance mechanism that changed how transaction processing limits are handled, enabling the network to reset only depleted resources rather than resetting all limits at once. This is expected to significantly improve performance for read-intensive and complex DeFi use cases, such as concentrated liquidity. Alex Huth from Stacks Labs stated that this upgrade enables the blockchain to better support high-value workflows, which could increase network activity, transaction volume, and transaction fees over time.
