P2P「Shield」Service Overview

To enhance the safety and credibility of P2P fiat trades, Gate has launched the Shield Service in the CNY fiat trading zone. Shield Merchants are vetted through strict platform qualification checks, risk controls, and deposit requirements, and are granted an exclusive verification badge. If a seller encounters judicial account freezes due to trading with a Shield Merchant, they may apply for compensation if eligible. The platform will activate a joint compensation mechanism to ensure the seller’s funds and rights are fully protected.

P2P「Shield」Compensation Rules

For orders eligible for compensation, the platform will initiate a joint compensation mechanism under the following terms:

  • Compensation rate: 20% of the order amount
  • Maximum compensation per order: 2,000 USDT
  • Responsibility: The Shield Merchant and platform each bear 50% of the compensation amount; If the merchant fails to fulfill the compensation on time, the platform will directly deduct the amount from their security deposit. If the deposit is insufficient, the platform will require the merchant to top up within a specified period, ensuring user protection while maintaining the merchant's credibility.

P2P「Shield」Compensation Eligibility

Sellers must submit a compensation request within 30 days after order completion and meet any 2 of the following conditions:

  1. Seller account is frozen for ≥6 months due to the Shield Merchant's payment, confirmed by judicial authorities;
  2. Official document from judicial authorities involves this order;
  3. Seller account is frozen for ≥6 months solely due to a trading with the Shield Merchant;
  4. Platform verifies that both buyer and seller accounts are frozen by the same judicial authority for ≥6 months;
  5. Other seller accounts interacting with the Shield Merchant are frozen for ≥6 months simultaneously;
  6. Other evidence proving the freeze is caused by the Shield Merchant's payment.

Compensation requests will not be accepted under these conditions:

  1. The order occurred before the merchant became a Shield Merchant;
  2. Seller submits the request after 30 days of order completion;
  3. Freeze is due to bank protective holds, non-counter trading restrictions, or the bank account is frozen but already assisted by the merchant to unfreeze.

P2P「Shield」Compensation Process

  1. Seller discovers their receiving account is frozen.
  2. Contact the bank to confirm the freeze duration; if it's only 72 hours, wait until the period ends and reconfirm the account status.
  3. If the status result shows a judicial freeze, the seller must file an appeal in the order and submit the Freeze Certificate.
  4. Platform verifies whether the freeze was caused by the Shield Merchant's payment according to the P2P「Shield」Compensation Eligibility.
  5. Handling the verification results:
  • If caused by the merchant: the merchant must assist the seller in unfreezing; if the judicial freeze cannot be lifted early, compensation is still required.
  • If unrelated to the merchant: the platform will notify the seller that no compensation will be provided. If the seller disagrees, they must submit new evidence within 7 working days, otherwise the original decision stands. 6. Once the platform confirms the compensation eligibility, it will advance the payment to seller within 3-5 working days and notify the merchant to pay his portion within 14 days, ensuring the seller's rights are fully protected.
