The investigation centers on Broox Bauer, a senior business development employee at Axiom. The release of the report was preceded by a period of intense speculation on Polymarket, where a contract titled “Which crypto company will ZachXBT expose?” surged to $27 million in trading volume. Blockchain analytics firm Lookonchain later identified twelve wallets that reportedly profited over $1 million by betting specifically on Axiom just hours before the exposé went live. EagleEye said This has led to further scrutiny, with suspicions that certain parties may have front-run the investigation itself, exploiting early knowledge for financial gain.
In response to the exposé, Axiom issued a public statement expressing that the company was “surprised and disappointed” by the findings. The platform claimed to have revoked employee access to sensitive internal tools and launched an internal review of its data-handling procedures. Despite these actions, the reputational damage has been immediate. Axiom, which had generated over $390 million in revenue, now faces backlash from the trading community for failing to safeguard user anonymity—one of the primary selling points for users relying on stealth trading tools.
From a legal perspective, ZachXBT has referred the case to the Southern District of New York (SDNY). Given that Bauer resides in New York City, the SDNY is a natural jurisdiction to investigate potential digital asset privacy violations and internal corporate fraud. The evidence collected includes dashboard screenshots, audio recordings, and on-chain transaction links, providing a strong basis for a formal inquiry.
