Putting the same background into the domestic context: no household registration, can't attend good schools; no problem, can't get into key middle schools; after high school graduation, either work or attend a vocational college — then be nailed down by educational discrimination at that level.
What makes America stand out? It's not the most resources, but that it doesn't care who your father is.
