Anthropic Labs officially launches Claude Design, an AI visual design collaboration tool powered by Claude Opus 4.7 that helps designers, product managers, entrepreneurs, and marketers quickly produce polished visual work. It’s currently available in a research preview format for Claude Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise subscribers, with access rolling out to users throughout the day.
Six key application scenarios
According to Anthropic, Claude Design currently primarily supports the following use cases:
Interactive prototypes: Designers can turn static drafts into shareable interactive prototypes without needing to go through code review or an PR process
Product wireframes and mockups: Product managers can quickly sketch functional workflows, then hand them off to Claude Code for implementation or for designers to refine
Design exploration: Quickly generate multiple directions for the team to compare and discuss
Presentations and pitch decks: From a rough outline to a complete brand-style presentation—exportable as PPTX or sent directly to Canva
Marketing materials: Generate landing pages, social media assets, and ad visuals, then have designers fine-tune them
Cutting-edge design: Anyone can build code-driven prototypes that support voice, video, shaders, 3D, and built-in AI
Automatic brand system application—designers can say goodbye to repetitive setup
One major highlight of Claude Design is its brand system integration. During the first setup, Claude reads the team’s codebase and design files, automatically builds a dedicated design system covering colors, fonts, and components. After that, every new project will automatically apply the system to ensure the output matches the company’s existing design language. Teams can also maintain multiple design systems to meet the needs of different product lines.
Refined conversations, embedded comments, direct editing
The design workflow follows a natural creative rhythm: starting from text descriptions or uploaded images and documents (supporting DOCX, PPTX, XLSX), or even by directly pointing to a codebase; after generating an initial version, users can modify through chat, embed comments directly on elements, edit text, or use adjustment controls dynamically generated by Claude to instantly adjust spacing, colors, and layout. Claude will apply the changes across the entire design.
For collaboration, design files support internal sharing—you can set private access, internal links that are view-only, or open up editing to colleagues—and interact with Claude within the same conversation. After completion, you can export to internal URLs, folders, Canva, PDF, PPTX, or standalone HTML files.
Seamless handoff with Claude Code
When the design is ready to move into the development stage, Claude Design packages all design information into a handoff bundle—just a single command is needed to send it to Claude Code to start implementation. Brilliant’s product team says that in the past, complex pages that required 20+ prompts to reproduce in other tools can be done with just 2 prompts in Claude Design, and that the “Claude Code handoff that includes design intent makes the process from prototype to launch smooth.”
Canva also confirmed that the two sides’ collaboration will continue to deepen: users can take Claude Design drafts directly into Canva, immediately turning them into collaborative designs that can be fully edited—ready for refinement, sharing, and publishing.
Available now, included in subscription plans
Claude Design is included in Claude Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise subscription plans with no extra charge, and usage counts toward existing subscription limits. Anthropic says that over the coming weeks it will continue expanding integration capabilities with third-party tools.
