The Madagascar National Assembly passed the impeachment motion against the president, while the presidential office stated "lacks legal basis".

Jin10 reported on October 15 that on October 14 local time, the Madagascar National Assembly held a special meeting in the capital Antananarivo and voted to pass the impeachment motion against President Rajoelina on the grounds of neglecting duties. However, the presidential office stated that the meeting “lacked any legal basis.” The impeachment decision still needs to be confirmed and approved by the Constitutional Court. Subsequently, the military camp that had been stationed in the southern part of Antananarivo and had experienced a mutiny stated that the armed forces are in control of the country. Earlier that day, Rajoelina issued a statement on the official social media account of the presidential office, stating that he had dissolved the National Assembly.
