He reiterated that Iran’s ability to launch missiles and drones has been significantly weakened, and that the United States will never allow Iran to have nuclear weapons. On energy, Trump said the United States does not need oil from the Middle East, in part thanks to Venezuela’s oil and natural gas. The United States today no longer relies on the Middle East at all. The recent rise in domestic gasoline prices is a short-term phenomenon, and oil production will soon increase dramatically, leaving the U.S. economically never prepared as well as it is now. Regarding the Strait of Hormuz (a globally important oil shipping route), Trump did not provide an opening timeline, saying that the United States did not need the strait in the past and does not need it now; once the conflict ends, the strait will naturally open.
