Magic Eden wallet shutdown

NFT marketplace Magic Eden announced that its native crypto wallet will officially enter “export-only” mode starting April 1, with all transaction functions ceasing on the same day; it will fully shut down on May 1. Any user who does not export their private keys or seed phrases before May 1 will permanently lose access to the associated assets. The wallet has been removed from major app stores and cannot be re-downloaded; users who have deleted the app also cannot reinstall it.

Key Deadline Timeline: How much time do you have left?

This shutdown has two irreversible cutoff points. Users must take appropriate actions based on their own circumstances:

Starting April 1: All transaction functions will stop; only the export of private keys and seed phrases will remain available. At this point, assets can still be transferred to other wallets or private keys exported for backup

May 1: The wallet will be completely closed; private keys can no longer be recovered in any way, and assets within the wallet will be permanently inaccessible

Special Warning: Do not delete the Magic Eden wallet app. Since it has been delisted from app stores, deleting it will prevent reinstallation. Without a seed phrase backup, assets will be permanently lost.

Recommended immediate protective measures:

· Export your seed phrase or private key and store it securely offline (on paper or hardware device)

· Before April 1, transfer assets directly to mainstream wallets such as Phantom (Solana) or MetaMask (EVM)

· If you already have a seed phrase backup, you can import the key into any new wallet supporting the same format at any time, ensuring full recovery of assets

Magic Eden’s Business Transition: From NFT Trading to Crypto Entertainment

This wallet shutdown is a direct extension of Magic Eden’s broader business transformation launched at the end of February 2026. The platform has shifted its strategic focus from an NFT trading marketplace to the entertainment and gambling sectors integrated with cryptocurrencies, with its flagship products being the crypto casino and sports betting platform Dicey.

In this context, Magic Eden has successively shut down its Ethereum and Bitcoin trading markets. The Bitcoin API officially closed on March 27, 2026, causing liquidity disruptions for Bitcoin Ordinals and related NFT collectibles. Currently, Magic Eden still maintains its Solana NFT marketplace, Solana card packs, and lucky draw features.

Note: If you miss the deadline for withdrawing funds from the EVM and Bitcoin wallet auctions on March 27, you must apply for a refund through Magic Eden’s official customer service channels.

ME Token Price Trends and Ecosystem Status

The ME token is currently trading around $0.09, near its historical lows. Its fully diluted valuation at launch in 2024 was approximately $10 billion, which has significantly declined. Currently, 28.4% of the token supply is still being gradually unlocked, creating potential selling pressure.

Magic Eden states that the ME token will remain central to its reward system—users staking ME can continue earning USDC rewards. The platform has also established an ME token buyback plan. The ME token will be integrated into Dicey’s gaming economy, becoming a primary incentive for user engagement on the entertainment platform.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I still withdraw assets from my Magic Eden wallet after April 1?

Starting April 1, the Magic Eden wallet enters export-only mode, and new trading and transfer functions are disabled. Users can export their private keys or seed phrases before May 1 and access assets by importing them into other wallets. After May 1, all functions will be fully terminated, and assets will be permanently inaccessible.

What if I have already deleted my Magic Eden wallet?

If you have deleted the wallet and do not have a seed phrase backup, your assets cannot be recovered. If you have a seed phrase backup, you can import the key into a new wallet that supports Solana, such as Phantom, and your assets can still be fully restored. The Magic Eden wallet has been delisted from app stores and cannot be reinstalled.

Will the ME token be affected by the wallet shutdown?

The staking rewards system and buyback plan for the ME token are unaffected by the wallet shutdown. Stakers can continue to receive USDC rewards. Management and access of the ME token should be transferred to other compatible Solana wallets.
