Gate News: On March 13, Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin posted on X platform proposing a tool to enhance personal safety and low-cost protection of civil liberties. He stated that everyone should have a simple and “deniable” way to call for help. The plan involves presetting several secret words; when a watch, phone, or home device detects these words, it automatically silently dials 911 and transmits real-time location information to the police. Vitalik pointed out that this scheme is especially effective for cryptocurrency holders worried about kidnapping or robbery. He said that if it can be ensured that there is at least a 20% chance the police will arrive immediately during a robbery, and that robbers cannot tell whether an alarm has been triggered, such crimes would become unfeasible due to the high risk. Additionally, since this feature requires the victim to actively take action to operate, the risk of government abuse for mass surveillance is relatively low.
