Deep Tide TechFlow News: On January 6th, according to Decrypt, Maine regulators announced a $19 million settlement agreement with cryptocurrency ATM operator Bitcoin Depot to compensate consumers harmed by third-party fraud. The agreement was reached after a two-year investigation and simultaneously granted the company legitimate operating licenses in Maine.



According to FBI data, cryptocurrency ATM-related fraud losses in the United States reached $246 million in 2024, representing a 99% year-over-year increase, with 43% of victims being seniors over 60 years old. Scammers typically trick victims into converting cash into cryptocurrency and sending it to fraudster accounts.
