Justin Bons 指出，XRPL 验证者通常参考由中心发布的推荐节点列表，一旦偏离该列表可能导致网络分叉，从而在结构上形成潜在的治理集中风险。他还将 XRPL 与 Stellar、Hedera、Algorand 等网络一并列入“许可型架构”范畴，并强调区块链若不基于 PoW 或 PoS 共识，可能更接近权威证明模型（PoA），难以实现完全信任最小化。
对此，Ripple 荣誉首席技术官 David Schwartz 作出正面回应，否认 Ripple 对 XRP Ledger 拥有绝对控制权。他解释称，XRPL 的设计初衷就是避免任何单一实体主导网络运行，每个节点可自主选择其信任的验证者列表，而非强制依赖官方推荐。即使验证者出现不诚实行为，节点也可以调整其 UNL 以维持共识安全。
David Schwartz 进一步表示，验证者无法强制诚实节点接受双花交易或实施审查，XRPL 通过约每5秒一次的共识轮次确认交易，从机制上降低审查和双花风险。他承认，理论上若大多数验证者串谋可能影响网络运行，但这属于典型的多数攻击问题，并非 Ripple 单方面可控的结构性权力。
此次争议也再次引出一个核心行业议题：区块链去中心化标准应如何界定。部分分析人士认为，XRPL 的性能优势与快速结算能力源于其独特共识机制，而并非传统 PoW 模型。与此同时，随着监管环境趋严以及机构关注度提升，关于“许可型区块链安全性、去中心化程度及治理透明度”的讨论预计将持续升温，成为影响 XRP 生态长期叙事的重要因素。
