邮件时间为2016年10月13日，收件人为Rafat Al-Sabbagh和Aziza Alahmadi。Epstein在信中提到，他“与一些比特币创始人交谈过”，对方对其构想表示兴趣。邮件描述了两种面向穆斯林群体的货币方案：一种是名为“Sharia”的实体货币，另一种是基于区块链、符合伊斯兰金融规范的数字货币。
由于比特币由化名为Satoshi Nakamoto的个人或团队创建，其真实身份从未公开，因此Epstein的说法目前无法验证。不过，他使用“创始人”复数的措辞，再次引发了关于比特币是否由多人共同开发的讨论。
司法文件还披露，Epstein早在2013年就开始接触比特币相关资料。Boris Nikolic曾向他转发Tren Griffin撰写的分析报告，讨论比特币作为支付系统的潜在价值。同年，Austin Hill也曾向Epstein发送邮件，谈及对Stellar项目的担忧，并抄送给Reid Hoffman与Joichi Ito，显示他与科技与金融圈人士保持着往来。
