Gold Financial reports that on April 26th, local time, April 26th, U.S. Acting Deputy Attorney General Todd Branch stated that a search warrant had been executed on the suspect involved in the security incident at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, and he believed the suspect arrived in Washington D.C. by train from Los Angeles via Chicago. Branch said that the suspect would be charged in federal court on the morning of the 27th. Branch stated that the gunman at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner “intended to attack government personnel, likely including the President himself.” Branch said investigators have been able to gather some information from the suspect’s electronic devices and have interviewed some people who know him, beginning to understand his motive for the attack.
