People’s Finance News, 6 April: The Shenzhen–Jiangmen High-Speed Railway, connecting Guangdong’s Shenzhen and Jiangmen, is an important part of the coastal corridor of China’s national “Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal” high-speed rail network. At present, construction has entered a phase of intensive breakthroughs. The Pearl River Estuary Tunnel of the Shenzhen–Jiangmen High-Speed Railway is a high-speed rail tunnel under the seabed constructed with a shield tunneling machine. During the Qingming holiday, tunnel builders remained on their posts, and the domestically made large-diameter shield tunneling machine “Shenjiang No. 1” kept boring forward day and night. “Shenjiang No. 1” has already advanced more than 4 kilometers, reaching a depth of 113 meters, setting the world record for the deepest underwater high-speed rail shield tunnel built.
