My mom is like this because of:

Waiting until I finish junior high, waiting until I finish high school, waiting until I finish university, waiting until I find a job, waiting until I find a good job, waiting until I find a wife, waiting until I get married, waiting until I buy a house, waiting until I have kids, waiting until my kids graduate, a vicious cycle.
Many people because of this "waiting" mentality never get to go where they want to go in this lifetime.
So respect the cycle, don't say "let's wait until the bull market comes," which only causes you to lose more money and never get to travel. Travel is the cheapest thing you can do right now.
